Harsil Forest Rest House
Uttarakhand
Harshil, the historic FRH, in the Harsil valley reminds us of Pahari Wilson, an Englishman who discovered the technique of rafting of wooden sleepers on the Ganga. He married locally and was very rich and even minted his own coins. He built for himself a beautiful wooden house at Harsil in 1870. Drives to Mukhba village 5km, the winter abode of the goddess at Gangotri, Dharali village 2km and Sat Tal 7km are interesting.
Elevation : 2481m AMSL
Year of Construction: 1870
Location : 75kms from Uttarkashi.
Tourist attraction near FRH : Surronded by Deodar, Kail, oak and rhododendron forests, Gangotri Temple (25kms), short trails.
