Birahi FRH is at 1058m, 8km from Chamoli town on NH58. Built in 1958-59 amongst chir forests along the Birahi river, it overlooks the valley. The Tungnath temple 35km and Gopeshwar temple 21km are worth visiting. The complex has a nursery of banj, tejpatta, harij etc and also bamboo huts for visitors.
