Barkot is 9km from Naugaon further up towards Yamnotri. The FRH, built in 1960, is located at a commanding height of 1328m over overlooking Barkot town. Being the las town close to the Yamnotri temple it has hosted several dignitaries. Rajgarhi was the Tehsil headquarters of the Tehri state is about 25km. It has a historical temple and pristine deodar forests, good for birdwatching and butterfly identification. Visit Tilari, the site of the Tilari agitation and kharadi Eco-park both nearby. Short trek to Rari Bokh Mandir and Muralto apple orchard are enjoyable. Drive towards Radi and kafnol villages to see the pristine oak, deodar fir and spurs forests. This area gets snow in winters and is very picturesque.
