Gwaldam Forest Rest House
Uttarakhand
Gwaldam FRH is set in a very picturesque surrounding at an altitude of 1960m. Surrounded by oak and rhododendron forests, built in 1890 the FRH is neatly tucked between mountains. The drive to the FRH passes through terraced fields and thick pines set against a backdrop of the Himalaya, with the Trishul and Nandakhunt peaks looming large. A good time to visit is in summer. A drive to the Talwari estate, 13km from the FRH is worth talking. Badhangarhi trek is also good for bird watchers. There is a raised platform in front of the FRH which still has the foundations of the original camp constructed here by the British.
